The houndstooth merchant coat is very smart and super wearable. The merchant coat has a full length sleeve with a high standing collar. It is cut with a flattering a-line shape and has big circular patch pockets as well as shoulder patches that give the coat a distinctive look. We find that this shape being nice and fitted through the top half is very flattering and you can wear it as a dress or a coat. We see it working really well with narrow shapes under it like stovepipe pants or leggings or pencil skirts.
